Bridging Gaps, Closing Deals
About George Paredes from OptimisticGlee
I grew up in Morristown, NJ, a quiet kid with a habit of breaking things—literally. I was the kind of kid who jumped off roofs without thinking about the landing. Once, I almost bit my tongue in half while chewing gum, landing me in the hospital, where I watched them sew my tongue back together. That memory stuck with me—not just because of the pain, but because it was one of the first times I realized that sometimes, we don’t fully understand the consequences of where we’re headed until we’re already in it.
The Search for More
For nearly a decade, I worked at the post office. It was stable, predictable, and... soul-crushing. I was living for the paycheck, spending my time drinking, binging Netflix, and wondering if this was all life had to offer. But deep down, I knew there had to be more than just going through the motions. That moment came right before I left the post office. I started feeling a pull—a calling, really. It wasn’t about money or escaping a job. It was about purpose. I realized I had spent too much time watching life happen instead of actually living it.
Faith, Fear, and the Leap into Real Estate Walking away from a steady paycheck is terrifying. I had no sales experience, no business background—nothing. And the biggest fear wasn’t failure; it was the feeling that I was selling myself. I joined Fortune Builders, a real estate mentorship group, hoping for direction. But it wasn’t the course material that changed me—it was my mentor. He was an usher at my local church who simply said: "David, you're going to be king, but just be a shepherd today." That stuck with me. I didn’t have to have all the answers. I just had to trust the process and take the next step.
Breaking Free from the 9-to-5 Mindset
At first, real estate was overwhelming. I had no idea what I was doing, and self-doubt was louder than my ambition. The people around me were still stuck in the 9-to-5 mentality—work, collect a check, repeat. I knew I had to step away from that mindset, but doing it alone was scary. The breakthrough came when I started connecting with others. I stopped worrying about "selling" and started focusing on solving problems. Real estate isn’t about transactions—it’s about understanding people. The moment I stopped trying to sound like an expert and started listening was the moment everything changed.
Who I Am Today
Now, my work isn’t just about real estate—it’s about people. Whether it’s helping someone close a deal, uncover a blind spot, or simply understand their own path, my real passion is being the mirror that reflects back what they can’t yet see in themselves. I’m not driven by the deal. I’m driven by the moment someone realizes they’re capable of more than they thought.
I don’t have all the answers—but I know how to ask the right questions.
The Bigger Picture
I’ve learned that you can’t buy success—you have to understand your purpose. Money follows value, and value comes from solving problems. And in the end, it’s not the paycheck that drives me. It’s the conversations. The moments when someone sees what’s possible for them—whether in real estate, business, or life. That’s why I do what I do. Not for the check, but for the impact. If you’re looking for someone to hand you all the answers, that’s not me. But if you want to have a real conversation—one that shifts the way you see your own path—let’s talk.

Honestly? The fear of asking. I don’t always have the answers, and sometimes I hesitate because I don’t want to seem unclear in my expectations. People see me as confident and positive, but the truth is, I’m still figuring things out—just like everyone else.
Don’t doubt yourself. Just help people when they ask, and don’t worry about how it looks. You don’t have to know everything to make an impact—just trust that showing up is enough.
That faith and entrepreneurship go hand in hand. Before I got my first deal, I had to trust in something bigger than myself. I had to believe that I didn’t need to know everything—I just had to keep going.
You can’t buy a business. You have to understand your purpose first. Real success doesn’t come from money—it comes from knowing what problem you solve and why you do it.
The impact I have on others. The thrill isn’t in the paycheck—it’s in discovering what someone really needs and reflecting that back to them. It’s about helping them see what they couldn’t see on their own.
Conversations. Not just surface-level ones, but the ones that help people uncover something—whether it’s in real estate or just in life. Those moments where someone realizes something new about themselves? That’s what it’s all about.
